EN954 Temporary reprieve

EN954-1:2006 was to be replaced by EN13849-1:2008 on 2009.12.31.

It has now been decided to extend the validity of EN954 for another two years to allow existing standards to be modified to include EN13849 and to allow manufacturers more time to adapt.

EN954 is now well understood in the industry and is relatively easy to apply. The new standard aims to achieve similar goals but with a deeper emphasis on reliability and risk. In most cases existing control systems will meet the new standard but in some cases, systems will need to be revised.
